1D Arcade
Generative game with physcial inputs. 2025.
Generative experiences through LLMs largely resides in the realm of text. We are interested in exploring the potential of generative experiences with physical inputs.
Certain physcial experiences are hard to convey through text, by allowing physical interactions as a modality, the gap between user intent and machine response is reduced. It also futher allows for a more natural and intuitive interaction.
We use 1D arcade as a platform to explore this potential. Users describe an game that can be realized on an 1D array, this can range from a simple cat and mouse chasing game to compicated rhythm games. User can use descriptions coupled with physical inputs such as "make it move this fast (rotates knob)", "when I click this button make the light go up", or "when I do this (hold button), it means to restart the game."
